Mobile Broadband Makes Australian Economy Well Prepared to Face Recession

The Leadership Summit organised by GSMA that was held last month, concluded with the statement that mobile broadband is capable of pulling the world economy out of the severe recession that it is currently facing. Even though, not many were ready to believe this at that time, Australia is now showing that the statement needs to be considered more seriously.

Due to large scale adoption of mobile broadband in the country, the Australian businesses have become more productive and efficient. Moreover it has been estimated that if mobile broadband growth does not falter, the industry could result in an overall benefit to the tune of $7.4 billion to the economy.

Dr. Paterson who works for a leading consulting firm in Australia says that higher levels of adoption of mobile broadband in the country have placed the Australian economy in a much stronger position now, and thus, it is much better prepared to deal with the economic crisis.

He also added that according to a study, most of the small and medium businesses that are already using the 3G technology, are quite positive about mobile broadband and foresee their usage to increase in the future. This does not come as a surprise because of the large number of new productivity-boosting applications like video conferencing being offered via mobile broadband - more info on free laptop contracts here. It remains to be seen whether other countries will report similar trends, giving more credence to the GSMA statement.
